Glazes are not pigment. They cannot be mixed together like paint according to colour-theory.

That's part of what makes the art of experimenting with them so fun; you never know how a new piece will turn out until you open the kiln.

Underglazes, however can be used like paints, and work beautifully for small details or large swathes of opaque colour.
